I was kidding gentleman, I would run any speaker anywhere if it sounded better.... I have only heard one pair of JBL's and they sound very different than Altecs, but sounded nice. I have been looking for a pair of 1500al's for awhile and a pair of 4435's in mint condition and 250ti limited edition, one of these days they will show up...

Well,yes. But could be severely mutilated 421's. It should be made a great deal. Would you not want to know if you are going to spend $250 on repairs? Seller says he will take a grand per Bowtie, that means a possible $1250 total. You can buy an MI pair pretty much any day for $1250, so might be better to spend $1100 on a set in better shape.

It's as simple as this to me people. What is such a big deal to everyone if they aren't interested in buying them??? If I was interested in buying them, then I'd simply take a look at the woofer from front and back before shelling out money (also the tweeters & crossovers). I think everyone is making a big deal out of nothing. I have better things to do than worry that someone on CL isn't fully disclosing the truth about what they have for sale. I still think they are 421 speakers because nobody has convinced me they aren't. I have to see and touch stuff myself to prove something. We can speculate all we want and keep this going forever. But what does it prove in the end??? We ALL love Altecs and are loyal to the brand; that's why we are here. Aren't there bigger fish to fry in the whole scheme of things? Does it matter that much? Can anyone really prove what they are without being there with them? No. I'm done with this senseless discussion. It's went on too long.

I think you underestimate how many readers this board has. Pointing out flaws is good reading for newbies who need to learn what to look for.

Agreed... I'm over it and have been. Just wish everyone would take a deep breath and relax. I love my Altecs and wouldn't take anything for them. That's why I'm here. I've learned a lot just by reading on here so I can see your point. Just seemed to me like it was blown up into something that nobody could prove either way. Pretty much useless thread in the whole scheme of things. I respect you and your opinion Old Guy so everything is fine.
